Question : I want to start Archery. What should I do first?

Answer: Find a club and go on a beginners course.

By finding a club which is affliated with the governing body (GNAS) who can be assured that you will get good advice and access to coaches and be able to shoot safely.

To shoot in the UK, you should (though a club) become a member of the GNAS which will entitle you to shoot at an archery club with insurance cover, enter tournaments both in the UK and abroad.

In order to join a club you must attend a beginners course where you will be given a introduction to the sport and taught to handle and shoot a bow safely. The course is generally 3 sessions of about 3 hours shooting during which you will learn to consistently hit the target!

We, at Corus Deeside Archery Club, run regular beginners courses. Contact the club using the contact form found in the 'Club Contacts' section to find out about availability of places on the courses.

The following link shows photos from a recent beginner's course. As you can see its all quite informal & friendly.
